Una ristrutturazione sapiente e rispettosa: il progetto di interior design di una casa colonica firmato da Michael Gallmetzer
Sfide da affrontare, abbracciare, superare.
L’architettura è questo: la volontà di trasformare uno spazio in un’esperienza, lì dove forme, materiali e colori dialogano con il passato nella lingua del futuro. È questo che ha voluto dimostrare l’interior designer Michael Gallmetzer nel restyling di una casa colonica trasformata in una comfort home capace di combinare il tradizionale con il contemporaneo, senza però compromettere l’anima storica della struttura. L’obiettivo principale era creare un appartamento al piano terra e su un unico livello: se da un lato quindi occorreva adattare la disposizione degli spazi, dall’altro risultava necessario rendere l’ambiente funzionale, accessibile e, soprattutto, vivibile.
Il risultato? Il living principale, dominato da una scala originariamente coperta da PVC, è stato restaurato valorizzando il legno di larice sottostante e dipingendo la ringhiera con un rosso tipico della regione del Catinaccio e del Latemar mentre il salotto, impreziosito da rivestimenti originali del 1923, è stato arricchito con tessuti che riprendono il verde della stufa in maiolica, creando un habitat sofisticato. La camera da letto e l’area bagno sono stati inseriti al piano terra e, mentre la prima profuma di rovere chiaro e larice affumicato ed è impreziosita da un arredamento tailored, valorizzato da dettagli antichi come il vecchio armadio da farmacia e le lunghe tende dalle nuance scure, per l’area bagno adiacente – un’ex dispensa con pavimento in terra battuta – è stato decisivo l’utilizzo di piastrelle tipo terrazzo e una doccia spaziosa per coronare il perfetto equilibrio tra estetica e praticità.

A Thoughtful and Respectful Renovation: The Interior Design Project of a Farmhouse by Michael Gallmetzer
Challenges to be faced, embraced, and overcome. This is architecture: the will to transform a space into an experience where forms, materials, and colours converse with the past in the language of the future. This is what interior designer Michael Gallmetzer aimed to demonstrate in the restyling of a farmhouse transformed into a comfort home capable of combining tradition with contemporaneity, without compromising the building’s historical soul.
The primary goal was to create a ground-floor apartment on a single level. Therefore, while it was necessary to adapt the layout of the spaces, it was also essential to make the environment functional, accessible, and, above all, livable.
The result? The main living area, previously dominated by a staircase originally covered in PVC, has been renovated by enhancing the underlying larch wood and painting the railing in a red hue typical of the Catinaccio and Latemar region. Meanwhile, the sitting room, adorned with original 1923 upholstery, has been enriched with fabrics that echo the green of the tiled stove, creating a sophisticated habitat. The bedroom and bathroom area have been relocated to the ground floor, and while the former is infused with the scent of light oak and smoked larch and features tailored furniture enhanced by antique details such as the old apothecary cabinet and long dark-hued curtains, the latter—once a pantry with a dirt floor—has achieved the perfect balance of aesthetics and practicality through the use of terrace-style tiles and a spacious shower.
